Background

The Erling-Persson Family Foundation was established in 1999 in memory of Erling Persson and his many achievements.  The economic base of the Foundation is in donations from Stefan Persson, Chairman of H&M.

With his untiring commitment and combination of entrepreneurial spirit and common sense, Erling Persson (1917-2002) laid the foundations for the global company that H&M is today. Building on the Persson family’s passion for entrepreneurship, it seemed natural for the Foundation’s activities to be focused initially on supporting projects aimed at developing education in this area. Before long, the Foundation had also begun to finance research in medicine. Many universities and hospitals were in dire need of increased support for vital research, which is where the foundation found it had a mission. Over time, these activities expanded to include projects promoting the development of children and young people. To see the next generation grow up in secure conditions and, thus, have the opportunity to develop their potential has become work of the highest priority.

Today, the Erling-Persson Family Foundation accepts applications from all over Sweden and works continuously to promote development in the areas outlined above.
